Coffee House & Open Mic, Saturday, July 19

On the third Saturday of each month, there is a combined Coffee House & Open Mic from 6–9pm. Coffee and sweet & savory snacks are available. Attendees are also welcome to BYOB & dinner/snacks. A featured performance takes place for about 60 minutes, with open mic slots available both prior and after.

This month, we are pleased to feature the Ivychum Trio! Pati and Ken Cloutier have been entertaining audiences regionally and nationally with their music talents since 1981. Ivychum was a consistent headliner at Harlow's Pub in Peterborough. Pati (vocals, percussion), a professional dancer and vocalist, is the owner and Artistic Director of the Peterborough Dance Theatre. She has also fronted many local acts, including “The Nines Band” and currently with Paul Klemperer in the “Summertime Dance Party Band”. Ken (vocals, guitar), and multi-instrumentalist, is a retired Science Teacher from Conval High School. Together, their original music compositions have been recognized at the national level, and the group has opened for recording artists Jonathan Edwards, Robin Trower, and Grammy Award winning artist Marc Cohn of “Walking in Memphis” fame. Their music reached radio airwaves on college and commercial stations, including their song “Goddess at The Wheel” on NPR’s “Car Talk”, and TNN ‘s (The Nashville Network) entertainment news show “Crook & Chase.”

Richard Doherty, a.k.a. Chard, Rico, Dr. Slidewinder, or Slidey. Playing music since he started on the snare drum in second grade. Richard moved to guitar and bass in his teens, then acoustic guitar, lap steel, and synthesizer in his 20s. He’s been playing rock, pop, folk, country, blues, jazz and electronic music for 50 years. In June 2021 he released his first official album of original music called “As the Ivy Grows,” which you can find on Bandcamp. Richard met Ivychum in the early 90s and has been playing on and off with them ever since. He is a founding member of the Kingsnakes and has recently joined the Folksoul Band on guitar. His current obsession with synthesizers means that you may hear him performing solo somewhere in the area as well.

Email info@dublincommunitycenter.org to reserve a spot on the open mic sign-up, or just show up that evening to try your luck at finding an available spot on the list. A suggested donation starting at $5 (or more) can be given at the door to help offset costs, and a hat will be passed during the performance for contributions to the featured performer(s).
