Miriam Dunn’s photographs transport viewers to places near and far, inviting them to experience different cultures. Miriam is a Peterborough-based photographer whose work is inspired by her love of travel, culture, and nature. She finds beauty in the vibrant colors and diverse landscapes she encounters around the world and locally, capturing moments that evoke emotion and connection. Recent exhibits includeThe Healing Arts Gallery at the Monadnock Hospital in Peterborough, NH, a solo show at The Optimist Cafe in Jaffrey, NH. Miriam is a founding member and current board member of The Blue Fern Gallery in Peterborough, NH. Miriam did a three month residency at The Maine Photo workshop in Rockport, Maine.

I'm a photographer in Dublin, New Hampshire, and I can trace the whole thing back to my father's workbench and my dentist's office. My father repaired 35mm Nikkormat film cameras for the young family to use, and built a darkroom at home to develop Kodak Tri-X. The ventilation was famously bad, and the wiring to the Omega enlarger was not exactly to code, so my early stop bath lessons included the occasional shock.
The real awakening happened at the dentist. A childhood weakness for Dubble Bubble earned me many white-knuckled hours in the chair, wondering whether my dentist had skipped the class on anesthesia. To cope, I studied the walls, which were covered in black-and-white travel photographs, and made myself a promise: I'm going to do that too someday, assuming I survive the drilling.
After that, the Nikkormat went everywhere with me: rock concerts in the 1970s, bicycle and camping tours across New England, and family gatherings. Later I studied black-and-white darkroom technique and Lightroom editing at the Maine Media Workshops, when I made the move to digital. I'm still loyal to Nikon. The camera has accompanied me around the world on birdwatching trips and wildlife safaris, and back home to Dublin, where I find just as much joy in the details of my homegrown garlic, my dahlias, family, and beloved pets.
