Photography Exhibit - Closing Event

  • DubHub 1123 Main Street Dublin, NH, 03444 United States (map)

Closing Event: Coffee with the Artists
Thursday, November 6 10am-12pm

Photography Exhibit:
A group show featuring four photographers of the Monadnock Region: Linda Greenwood, Toni Gildone, Carolyn Edwards and Fletcher Maggs

Bios:

Toni Gildone is self-taught, having never studied art or photography per se, outside of experimentation and guidance from those more skilled. She is particularly drawn to black and white and portraiture.  While teaching, she was gifted the equipment to set up a darkroom, which enabled her to create 5 x 7 black and white portraits of each student as Christmas presents for their parents - a tradition she maintained for several years.
Artist Statement: I especially favor capturing unexpected, unposed moments in time whenever possible, or creating strong portraits that reveal a little of the subject’s character. Sometimes the way the sun slants over a field is too good to pass up. I love working with 35mm film, although many of the images on display are digital.

Carolyn Edwards has been painting and taking photos since her high school days, and took a minor in fine arts in college, as well as multiple classes from the Sharon Arts Center over the years. As the owner of Sunflowers Café in Jaffrey, Edwards hosted art exhibits and music and literary events in support of local talent at the restaurant. At Middlebury College, minoring in fine arts, Edwards studied watercolor painting, art history and design with Arthur K.D. Healy. Among various art and photography awards: First  Prize, Elden Murray Photo Contest, Hanover, NH, American Universities Field Staff Invitational Exhibit and cover photo on their magazine, Common Ground, and Honorable mention Harvard Alumni Magazine Photo Contest and published in the magazine.
Artist Statement:
"The world stands out on either side, no wider than the heart is wide-
Above the world is stretched the sky, No higher than the soul is high."
- Edna St. Vincent Millay

Linda Greenwood
Photographer and mixed media artist Linda Greenwood, a longtime Peterborough NH resident originally from Long Island, N.Y., incorporates found objects into her photographic assemblages. She often sources materials from the town landfill in Peterborough, including barn board, metal, jewelry and machine parts.
Artist Statement: I am intrigued with the process of catching nature's splendor in my distinctive photographs. Creating a mood and a feeling through images for an observer is key for me. I takes pride in turning ordinary objects and landscapes into artistic creations. I like to find new ways to interpret art through my photographs. I make book cover art, coasters, postcards and other products with my photos. I now love to build assemblage art using my photograph as the central focus.

Fletcher Maggs is a photographer and film maker from Peterborough, New Hampshire. Once a student of Conval high school, some of his achievements include the most scholastic art awards in the school history, and winning the 2022 New Hampshire High School Film Festival. Since graduating Fletcher has been to over 25 countries on a portfolio driven mission to learn more about the world, and create stories through his images. Currently living in Los Angeles studying film, Fletcher thanks most of his success to growing up in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, where there is such a strong community of artists. Not to mention the beauty of the region.
Artist Statement
My photography is about blending jaw dropping landscapes, with human elements. Whether it’sa portrait in front of Mount Monadnock or Sherpa’s in the Himalayas, both my travel and local photography aim to feel both intimate, and cinematic. As I live an adventurous lifestyle my camera is the tool I bring with me to tell these stories and hold on to memories.
